Last year at some point everyone was on a detox of some sort, it seems to have become the new buzz word. Radical detoxing may give your body a bit of a boost and good feeling but unless it results in a lifestyle change it is not an effective way to gain health or to lose weight long term. This is why alkalising is fast becoming the best way to change your lifestyle and as well as your health one meal at a time. Possible side effects of an acidic diet include pain, fatigue, weight gain and difficulty losing weight, cellulite, mood swings, increased incidence of allergies, indigestion and reflux and many more symptoms. So if you’re suffering from any of those symptoms keep your ear to the ground for the numerous articles floating around about the wonders of an alkalising lifestyle.

Adding two serves of fresh raw greens to at least two of your meals per day is a good start to becoming more alkaline. Alfalfa, asparagus, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, cucumber, garlic, lettuce, onion, peas, spinach, zucchini, carrot, avocado, kale, Asian greens, dulce, edible flowers, garlic, green beans, green peas, kale, kohlrabi, lettuce, mushrooms, mustard greens, onions, peas, pumpkin , radishes spinach, spirulina, sprouts, sweet potatoes, watercress, wheat grass, just to name a few.
Green drinks are a fun and easy was to increase the alkalinity of your body and boost your superfood count for the day. Here’s a recipe for one of my favourites:
Green kiwi and Lemon kick.
1 medium- large lemon
1 peeled cucumber
½ tablespoon of Spirulina
1 tablespoon of chia seeds
500ml of filtered water or green coconut water
Throw it all in the blender and enjoy. You can add ice cubes on a hot day for a super hydrating and refreshing drink.
