Health Adventure - The Colonel Strikes Back

Updated

So officially I have finished the Nature’s Sunshine 14 Day Detox. Overall I enjoyed taking the Detox, the drink mix and the capsules were easy to take and I felt it reallykfc gave me a kick start into losing weight and being healthier.

Now I have to state that without the diet and exercise I don’t think I would have lost as much as I have, but I will come back to that.

After the awesome results from last week, I have to admit I approached my second week not as focused or committed this week. I was definitely more blasé and as such I ate a bit more than I should have, I didn’t have a variety of healthy foods, so I got a bit bored and disaster, I broke and went and had some fast food. Damn you Colonel and your delicious chicken!!!

Two things happened straight away, food regret and diarrhea.

I am an emotional eater, I eat when I am happy, I eat when I am sad and I eat when I go into a shame spiral. It’s not fun and it takes me a day to snap out of it, but once I was out, I re-centered and finished the week off properly, with healthy choices and exercise.

This brings me back to why the Detox isn’t a magic weight reducing bullet. The real Magic ingredient is your own attitude.

Let’s look at the outcomes over the two weeks.

Week One – Great food choices, little exercise, Great attitude, Detox – Lost 6.2Kg

Week Two – Not so great food choices, Fast Food, some exercise, low attitude, Detox – Lost 1.5kg

Even taking into account that my body would stabilise in the second week after shocking it in the first, I know I could have lost more if I had kept focused and excited. One and a half kilo’s is nothing to sneeze at, but what could it have been is the question. Attitude was the main difference and what a lot of difference it made.

So if you’re having troubles on your health adventure, take a deep breath and refocus on what you want in your life, remember why you want it and remember it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon.

marathonToday is my first day off the Detox, but I am refocused to eat better and exercise more to continue towards my goal of under 100kg. I even start a new sport tonight, which I will talk about next time. Have a great and healthy week.

7.7Kg down 23.3 to go.
