Keep Calm and Chillax with Chamomile

Updated

When it comes to tummy or nervous upset in the home, there is one gentle and safe herb I keep as a staple to help calm and relax the family – this is Chamomile.

Chamomile has been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years, to treat many conditions including sore throats, gum inflammation (gingivitis), mild anxiety, insomnia, psoriasis, acne, eczema, minor burns and children’s conditions such as colic.

Chamomile contains a number of potent phenolic flavonoids such as quercetin, luteoline and apigenin, which contribute to Chamomile’s calming, relaxing and sedative effect. These potent phytonutrients provide nervous system support, helps relieve irritability, nervous tension, stress and restlessness, as well as promote more restful sleep.

Anti-spasmodic actions with Chamomile carminative properties makes Chamomile ideal in gently calming digestive and tummy upsets – especially in children.

Used topically, Chamomile has anti-inflammatory actions to soothe skin irritations such as nappy rash, cracked nipples, acne, eczema, varicose ulcers and conjunctivitis
